Sexuality Education
Australia has one of the highest rates of teenage pregnancy amongst Western countries,
(World Health Organisation, 2013)
People often ask -
"What is sexuality education?"
"Is it sexual health education?"
The answer is yes, and so much more.
Whilst the health side of sexuality is important, so too are other aspects, that are often overlooked.
Managing intimate relationships, the expression of gender and sexuality, and the effects of technology, including pornography, are a few of the many hot topics still thought of as ‘taboo’, but are necessary to discuss.
Research shows that a comprehensive and age appropriate approach to sexuality education is the most effective tool in eliciting positive behaviour amongst our young people.
500 young people aged 15 and below became parents in Australia in 2012,
(Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2013)
